    “I know him!” and “I’ve been there!”

    Isn’t it so exciting to see a familiar place or face on TV?  My “claim to fame” is that my dad once gave George Strait a haircut when they were kids.  We all enjoy identifying a connection with the people and places we see on TV.  It’s part of the reason why I’m so excited that San Antonio’s very own Chef Jason Dady is going to compete in the Food Network’s Iron Chef Gauntlet.  I love to root for someone from home who’s in the national spotlight due to success and hard work.   You may know of award-winning Chef Jason Dady from one of his many delicious restaurants here – Two Brothers BBQ, Tre Trattoria, Tre Enoteca, Shuck Shack and The Bin.  In the Iron Chef Gauntlet, Jason will compete against six other nationally-renowned chefs from all over the country.  The first show will air on Sunday, April 16, so set your DVR, gather up your friends and let’s cheer on one of our own!

    It’s always interesting to hear the story behind the business.  A spot on a TV show is a great way for a restaurant to publicize their story, make a connection with us and receive a boost in sales.  In case you missed them, there are several other local restaurants that have had the spotlight in the past, so try to catch a rerun, search for the episodes on YouTube, or check out the restaurant’s website to see if they have the video posted.

    We know our food scene in San Antonio is fantastic, so it’s great when we get recognized on some popular national TV shows.  I hope you’ll tune in to watch and cheer for San Antonian Jason Dady as he competes in the Iron Chef Gauntlet.  Good luck to Jason!
