A.J. has over 20 years of experience in public accounting, 13 of which entailed running his own CPA firm. While his business acumen is broad, his areas of expertise are financial statement reviews, business tax compliance, internal control analysis, and litigation support. He has extensive experience in real estate, construction, professional services, retail, not-for-profits, and foundations from an industry perspective. He is a member of the AICPA and Texas Society of CPAs.
His life outside the office was and is unique. A. J. has served the Alamo Area Council for Boy Scouts of America for nearly 17 years in various accounting matters such as audit support, tax compliance, internal controls, budgeting, training, and accounting supervision. Currently, he serves on the board of directors of the Council.
At the age of 16, A. J. became a musician and has played the guitar ever since. During the summers of his college years, he worked on a farm during the day and played in a band in dance halls across Texas at night. But the real question is – does he know how to two-step? Music tells a story, whether it has vocals or is instrumental. And A.J.’s favorite collection of musical “stories” is Garth Brooks’ No Fences album. He shares his love of music with his wife, Jennifer, and his four daughters.
